Overview
Education is empowerment. Annapoorani Foundation’s 93 educational programs, totaling more than INR 2.3 Million, have unlocked opportunity for 868 students through scholarships, tuition assistance, exam fee waivers, and supply kits. Recipients include children, youth, and adults pursuing formal studies or vocational skills in schools, colleges, and training centers. Beyond individual scholarships, programs include support for infrastructure, digital literacy, and mentorship
The challenge
India has a burgeoning population with a very young demographic. Over a quarter of India’s 1.3 billion population is under the age of 14 – approximately 300 million children of school-going age who need a good education. And the first eight years of a child’s life is critical – 80% of the child’s brain is developed during this period.
Barriers to educational attainment in India remain formidable — poverty, disability, gender bias, and infrastructural deficits block countless students from realizing their potential. School dropout rates spike in rural districts, and access to quality resources is inconsistent. Many families face a choice between education and immediate survival, perpetuating generational poverty.
Digital access is uneven while smartphone penetration is rising, fewer than 20% of rural students are digitally literate, limiting their ability to engage with modern learning tools
Families often face a painful trade-off between education and survival, especially in low-income areas. These challenges not only hinder academic progress but also perpetuate generational poverty and limit social mobility.
Strategic approach
Our model uses local partnerships to identify high-need cases, working with educators, NGOs, and community leaders to provide comprehensive support. Each beneficiary is monitored for academic progress and personal growth. Training for parents and teachers helps maximize program outcomes. Annapoorani Foundation continually evolves its support from basic fees to interactive learning and counseling, with an eye on helping each student become not just a graduate but a change-maker in their family and community.
Highlights - Education for Special Children
Annapoorani Foundation proudly extends its support to two remarkable organizations — V-Excel Educational Trust and Ekadaksha Learning Center — both dedicated to nurturing children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through our contributions, 150 children are now receiving specialized care, education, and therapeutic support tailored to their unique needs.
V-Excel offers lifespan services including early intervention, special schooling, occupational and art therapy, vocational training, and counseling . All designed to promote independence and social inclusion for children and young adults with Autism, ADHD, and other developmental challenges.
Ekadaksha Learning Center provides a safe, nurturing space for children with special needs to grow through individualized education plans, creative activities, and emotional support. Their approach emphasizes acceptance, empowerment, and holistic development.
By partnering with these institutions, Annapoorani Foundation reaffirms its commitment to inclusive education ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and shine.
